Queer, Here, and Everywhere

New exhibition Coming 2025

We are so so so excited and grateful to be one of the 18 organizations chosen to receive a 250Lex Cultural Grant! The money from this grant will be used to create the first comprehensive exhibition of Lexington’s LGBTQ history, showcasing the importance of the queer community in this city. Coming 2025, Queer, Here, and Everywhere: The Roots of Kentucky’s LGBTQ History will be able to travel to venues across the city, county, and state.

Highlighting key moments and figures in Lexington's LGBTQ history, from Sweet Evening Breeze's drag performances in the 1920s to the passage of the Fairness Ordinance in 1999, this exhibit will celebrate the resilience and contributions of the queer community. By shedding light on these often overlooked narratives, we hope to foster a greater sense of belonging for LGBTQ individuals in Lexington while also promoting understanding and appreciation among the broader population.

We are working with Joanna Hay Productions (Arkwright Media LLC), a well-experienced, woman-owned, exhibition design firm based in Kentucky to create this exhibition. The exhibit will be comprehensive yet portable, allowing it to reach diverse audiences across various venues in Lexington and throughout the Commonwealth, including festivals, libraries, schools, and community centers. Moreover, we commit to offering the exhibition to the public free of charge, reflecting our dedication to accessibility and outreach.

Interested in hosting this exhibition at your organization or business? Fill out the form below and let us know! We look forward to celebrating 250 years of Kentucky’s LGBTQ history with you!
